Closing the Gap
The U14 Nomad Quinte West Golden Hawks hosted two home games this weekend.

On Friday the Hawks would play a back and forth battle against the team's nemesis the Clarington Toros.  Cam Slone would land a goal just over thirty seconds into the game as well as notch himself a hat trick all within the first period  Keegan Goulah would score in the first and again in the second.  Riley Kavanagh would add one to the tally.  The game ended in a tie at 6.  Nico Toussaint played a stellar game in net.  Assists go to Cohen Heales (3), Joey Nieman (2), Malcolm Brooks (2), Rhys Lawrence and Malachi Hoornweg.  The Toros have had the Golden Hawks number the past few times they have come face to face in regular season and tournaments.  A tie means the Hawks are closing that gap on the Toros.

Sunday's onslaught against the Petes was sweet redemption after falling short to them before the Christmas break.  The Hawks walked away with a 7 to 3 victory.  Owen Curran earns the win in net making several keys saves to keep the Petes at bay.  Scoring for the Hawks would be Malcolm Brooks, Joey Nieman (2) Cohen Heales, Cam Slone (2) and Keegan Goulah.  Assists from Rhys Lawrence (2), Hunter Bradbury (2), Andrew Gilson, Nieman, Kale Tawse and Heales (2)
The Hawks are set to play North Durham in Frankford Friday night at 6:30pm.  They travel to Belleville on Saturday to take on the Bulls at the FDC at 8:15pm and Sunday they travel to North Durham.
