Hawks Come Out on Top in Round 1
Quinte West U10A Golden Hawks fought hard to bring home a 4-0-0 record in the first round of playoffs.

The first game of the playoffs saw the Hawks traveling to Clarington to take on the Clarington Toros. They played hard and finished the game with a 10-0 win.

Goals were scored by Griffin Van Gemeren, Tye McMurter(2), Kohen Couperus, Nikolai Caron, Alex Dolton(2), Josh Korver, Roy Finch and Ben Villeneuve. Assists went to Ben Villeneueve, Brody Bucholtz, Alex Dolton, Josh Korver, Nico Leone, Roy Finch, Griffin Van Gemeren and Nikolai Caron. Preston Martin celebrated a shutout in net versus Clarington. 


Hawks traveled to Peterborough for game two to take on Peterborough Petes. They fought hard, played as a team and were able to bring home a 5-2 win.  Goals were scored by Alex Dolton(2), Roy Finch (2) and Griffin Van Gemeren. Assists were made by Roy Finch, Josh Korver, Nikolai Caron, Ben Villeneuve, Griffin Van Gemeren and Noah Carre-Stewart. Bryce Lawrence was in net versus Peterborough.


For game three, the Hawks hosted Clarington on home ice in Trenton and took home a 12-1 win. Griffin Van Gemeren led the Hawks with a hat trick. Other goals were scored by Alex Dolton(2), Noah Carre- Stewart(2), Tye McMurter, Nico Leone, Brody Bucholtz, Kohen Couperus and Josh Korver. Assists were made by Roy Finch, Kohen Couperus, Karson Hamilton, Alex Dolton and Noah Carre-Stewart. In net for game three was Preston Martin.


Game four did not disappoint and the Hawks came ready to win versus Peterborough Petes, taking home a 9-1 win.

The first period was a hard fought battle, but saw Peterborough leading the game 1-0 at the end of 10 minutes.

Hawks regrouped and came back on fire in the second period with Griffin Van Gemeren leading the scoring streak. Josh Korver worked hard to sink three goals in the net and take home a hat trick. Other goals were scored by Alex Dolton, Tye McMurter, Griffin Van Gemeren, Noah Trice and Ben Villeneuve. Assists in the game went to Alex Dolton, Brody Bucholtz, Roy Finch, Levi Mallory, Ben Villeneuve, Griffin Van Gemeren and Kohen Couperus. Bryce Lawrence held the team together between the pipes versus Peterborough.


Hawks are on the road to play in the Silver Stick Finals this weekend, then they will take a few days off before heading into round 2 of the playoffs.
