U10A Hawks hit the ice with amazing teamwork, skill and strong determination to win versus the Kingston Canadians tonight in Frankford.
The first period had fans on the edge of the seat in a scoreless game for the first 7 minutes of play. Griffin Van Gemeren put his shooting skills to work and scored the first goal of the game, unassisted, putting the Hawks in a 1-0 lead. This goal was just the motivation the Hawks needed to sink another one past Kingston’s goaltender, less than one minute later. The second goal of the game was scored by Roy Finch, assisted by Josh Korver and Alex Dolton.
Second period of the game did not disappoint Hawks fans. The 2 goal lead was just the momentum that the players needed to keep fighting for the win. The Hawks continued to use their teamwork skills and score another 3 goals in the second period. Second period goals were scored by Ben Villeneuve, Griffin Van Gemeren and Roy Finch. Assists went to Griffin Van Gemeren, Noah Trice, Alex Dolton and Josh Korver. With 6 minutes left in the second period, the Hawks fought hard but let in a short handed goal making the score 5-1 at the end of the second.
Third period of the game was tense, but the Hawks were able to keep up their stamina and shut down Kingston from getting close to the net, making the third period scoreless.
