Quinte West U10 Golden Hawks Bring Home Gold From Silver Stick
Quinte West U10 Golden Hawks travelled to Cobourg this weekend to attend the International Silver Stick Tournament.

The Hawks started the Silver Stick tournament hungry for a win against the Ottawa West Golden Knights. The team played hard and took home a 2-0 win. Preston Martin made some great saves in net, coming out of the game with a shutout. Goals were scored by Alex Dolton assisted by Josh Korver and Kohen Couperus assisted by Elena Kotsovos.

Their second game was a hard fought battle against Mississippi Thunder Kings that saw the Hawks come out on top with a 4-2 win. Bryce Lawrence held strong in net, taking home the win. 

Goals were scored by Griffin Van Gemeren assisted by Kohen Couperus and Levi Mallory, Ben Villeneuve assisted by Griffin Van Gemeren and Kohen Couperus, Alex Dolton assisted by Josh Korver and Nico Leone, and the final goal was scored by Josh Korver assisted by Karson Hamilton. 


Hawks went out strong in game three of the tournament, securing a 10-0 win against Gloucester/Orleans Blues. Preston Martin saw his second shutout of the tournament in net.

Levi Mallory started the scoring streak with the first goal of the game in the first 2 minutes of play; assisted by Nikolai Caron. Other Hawks goals were scored by Ben Villeneuve (3), Griffin Van Gemeren(2), Josh Korver(2), Karson Hamilton and Nikolai Caron. Assists came from Griffin Van Gemeren(3), Nikolai Caron, Ben Villeneuve, Alex Dolton, Karson Hamilton and Roy Finch. 


With three wins in the tournament, the Hawks advanced forward to the semi finals on Sunday morning. It was a tough battle against Castor River Canucks but the Hawks fought hard, coming out with a 5-2 win. Goals were scored by Noah Carre-Stewart, Alex Dolton(2), Griffin Van Gemeren and Karson Hamilton. Goals were assisted by Josh Korver (4), Ben Villeneuve and Kohen Couperus. Bryce Lawrence held the team together for the win in net.


The Hawks came out ready to win in the final game of the Silver Stick Tournament, taking a 5-3 victory over the Mississippi Thunder Kings. Karson Hamilton put the Hawks first goal on the scoreboard with an assist from Tye McMurter. Other Hawks goals were scored by Ben Villeneuve assisted by Kohen Couperus and Elena Kotsovos, Karson Hamilton assisted by Josh Korver, Kohen Couperus assisted by Nico Leone and the final goal was scored by Alex Dolton assisted by Levi Mallory and Noah Carre Stewart. 


U10A Golden Hawks will take a much needed break next weekend before they resume hockey at home on December 7, 2021 VS Whitby Wildcats Blue.
