Opening season road win for the U16A Golden Hawks!
On October 8th, The U16A Image Landscaping Golden Hawks started the regular season on the road versus the Whitby Wildcats White, for a 9pm tilt.

Despite the team getting word shortly before puck drop that our beloved Toronto Blue Jays lost in the Wildcard series, the boys wiped away the tears and got to work!

Ethan Lord started the charge in the 1st period, when he rushed the puck into the Whitby zone and ripped a laser beam of a slapper. Lordy shot the puck so hard that it literally knocked the goalie’s stick out of his hand. The stick flew high into the air, just about as far as a Blue Jay hitter’s bat would go, if they would have hit a homerun! Anyhow, Lordy’s effort got the boys fired up! Shortly after that, Tate Webb ripped a shot from the blue line and was tipped in by Jacob Brummel (also assisted by Coe).

In the 2nd period, Cole Baird starting the scoring from a nice apple from Jack Andrews (also assisted by Brooks). Charlie Mooney then put the Hawks up 3-0 from a snapshot from in the slot (assisted by Brumwell and Storms). Shortly after that, Whitby got on the scoreboard with a breakaway goal (3-1 for the Hawks). A few minutes later, there was a scramble in front of the Whitby goalie and Landen Brumwell poked in a beauty, putting the Hawks up 4-1 (assisted by Mooney and Kenney). Whitby answered with another goal before the end of the period, finishing the period 4-2.

Early in the 3rd period, Ty Turpin showed his physical prowess with a massive hit at the blue line. A few minutes later, the Hawks found themselves shorthanded. “Shorthanded?! No problem!” Is what our PK special teams say. This was showcased when the Wildcats were attempting to breakout the puck in their zone. A Whitby defenceman tried a saucer pass, to keep it out of reach of our penalty killers, but Trevor Brooks used his Cobra Kai like skills and batted the puck out of midair, then toe dragged the unsuspecting Whitby player, dished the puck over to Jacob Brummell who snapped in a gross goal. At the end of the period, Kenney had an empty netter. 6-2 final score for the Golden Hawks.

Carson Down was solid between the pipes for the Hawks, picking up the big win!
