A big road win to bring in 2023!
The U16A Image Landscaping Golden Hawks came out fired up after the Christmas break. The Golden Hawks opened up the 2023 schedule on the road on Friday January 6th, to face off against the Northumberland Nighthawks.

The Golden Hawks came out strong in the 1st period, scoring 4 unanswered goals. Who can go out and get a hattrick in the 1st period alone? Trevor Brooks can! Brooksie led the charge netting in 3 beauty goals in the opening period. Also, netting a shorthanded goal in the 1st was all-star Defensemen Ethan Lord. The Hawks had a 4-0 lead after the 1st period.

In the 2nd period, Charlie Mooney opened up the scoring with a nasty powerplay goal. Then the Nighthawks answered with their lone goal late in the 2nd period. The Hawks had a 5-1 lead after the 2nd period of action.

In the 3rd period, Mooney kept the scoring going, slapping in a beauty goal. A few minutes later Ethan Kenney netted a shorthanded wrap-around goal. Then a couple mins after that, Brody Pilatzke snipped in the last goal of the game.

It was a successful road game to start the new year. Not only did the boys wear off some turkey dinner and some of Grandma’s favourite gravy, they also left with a big 8-1 win. So really, everyone won. Grabbing apples for the Golden Hawks were Andrews, Turpin, Sills x 2, Kenney, Baird x 2, Kuipers x 2, Storms and Webb. Carson Down was solid once again between the pipes, taking home the win.
