U15 A Golden Hawks come away with 4-0 win versus the North Durham Warrior

The Quinte West U15A Golden Hawks went on the road on Saturday, 20 November for an evening tilt against the North Durham Warriors.

In the 1st period, both teams were held off the scoresheet, however the Golden Hawks dominated the puck possession in the Warriors’ end. One notable play in the 1st period was a massive check by Defenceman Ethan Lord. Lordy’s hit got the team fired up going into the 2nd period.

Apparently, only kids named ‘Ethan’ were allowed to score in the 2nd period. Big Ethan “Lordy” opened up the scoring in the 2nd with a big slapper from the point, assisted by Brock Davy. Then small Ethan Kenney knocked in a rebound goal, assisted by Charlie Mooney and Jack Andrews. Then Lordy thought, ‘yes, please! May I have another?’ And slapped in his second goal of the game, assisted by Keagan Carr.

The lone goal in the 3rd period came from Brock Davy when he went coast-to-coast with a beauty goal (unassisted). The score ended 4-0 for the Golden Hawks.

Dryden Riley was in net for the Hawks, getting the big shutout win. A noteworthy play was his big save on a breakaway attempt in the 2nd period.

The Golden Hawks star defenceman Lordy was asked following the game, “you came out determined tonight! Did you do you anything special to prepare for tonight’s game?” Lordy responded with, “I spent the afternoon throwing hay in the barn, then shot my pellet gun for a bit. On the drive to the game, I drank my usual bio-steel. I knew I was going to have a good game because my warm-ups were on point before we went on the ice. My Dad always told me that, if you warm-up like a donkey, you’ll play like a donkey.”

The team would like to thank and recognize Tyler Bjerknes, a 19-year volunteer of the Junior C Port Perry Mojacks team. Tyler is also a second cousin to Ethan Lord. Tyler provided our team with a very informative tour of the Mojacks’ dressing room and gave a poster to our players. Also, thank you to the Mojacks players, Jack Davis and Sam Davis who were present for the tour and answered questions.
