The Quinte West Image Landscape Peewee Hawks rolled right through September and continued to build chemistry and momentum early in the season. The Hawks travelled to Port Perry this past weekend to face North Durham in regular season play. They came out strong in the first period controlling the majority of play as Brock Davy (Pilatzke) would get the Hawks on the board. The floodgates would open in the second period with goals by Charlie Mooney(Webb), Avery Wease, and two by Sunny Fanjoy(Pilatzke, Webb). The Hawks would not let up in the final period as they moved the puck well to create multiple scoring chances. Cole Baird(Davis) would add to the carnage and Fanjoy(Wease) would drive the final nail in the coffin to come away with a statement game and 7-0 win. Dryden Riley was exceptional between the pipes and made key saves throughout the game to stifle the hopes of the home team.

North Durham would travel to Quinte West the following day for a rematch to see if they could figure out this juggernaut. The Hawks took it to the visitors early with Davy once again getting the Hawks on the board. Holden Webster(Mooney) and Weasey(Webb) would also score in the first and give the Hawks complete control of the game. Second period goals by Weasy(Fanjoy, Davy) and Dex Slone(Webby, Mooney) would put North Durham in a hole they could not dig themselves out of. More of the same in the third as Mooney, Fanjoy(Webb), and Webby(Davy) would push the Hawks to an 8-1 victory over their deflated opponents. Carson Down stayed solid in net throughout this game making the key stops when necessary. The Hawks will need to continue their momentum next weekend as they will face Oshawa on Saturday and they have a score to settle with Whitby White on Sunday. Let’s Go Hawks!!
