REGIONAL SILVER STICK CHAMPIONS!!
The Quinte West Peewee A Image Landscape Hawks are Northumberland Regional Silver Stick Champions!!

The Quinte West Peewee A Image Landscape Hawks are Northumberland Regional Silver Stick Champions!!  It was an exciting weekend of hockey and the Hawks would not disappoint.  Game 1 saw the Hawks face Woodstock in a highly anticipated matchup.  It was an even first period with Quinte West dominating the shot count, but neither team was able to hit the score sheet.  Avery Wease would put the Hawks on the board in the second and Holden Webster(Fanjoy) would add another before the end of the period.  The third period was back and forth with Carson Down playing solid between the pipes to earn the shutout and make a solid statement to being the tournament.

In game 2 the Hawks faced Peterborough who is a familiar regular season opponent that has given the Hawks trouble in the past.  Quinte West dominated the first period and Keegan Carr(Sillsy) would start the scoring.  The script would flip in the second as Peterborough pushed back and would get the tying goal before the end of the period.  The trend would continue through the third as the Pete’s would not relent.  Dryden Riley would keep the Hawks in this one making crucial saves and securing the 1-1 tie.

The third game was definitely more one sided as the Hawks would face Niagara in a Saturday evening game.  The Hawks jumped all over their opponents and got the early lead with a goal by Cole Baird(Fanjoy) in the first.  The floodgates would open in the second with goals by Ethan Lord(Weasey), Charlie Mooney(Coe), Keegan Carr, and Brody Pilatzke(Mooney, Coe).  Weasey and Sillsy would each add their own in the third and Carson Down would record his second win of the tournament securing the 7-1 drubbing of the Wolves.  This would set up a semi-final rematch for the 2 teams early Sunday morning.

The Hawks came out sleepy and slow to begin the semi final game and Niagara would take advantage getting the lone goal in the first period.  The second period would be more of the same but Weasey(Carr) would manage to get the Hawks on the board with 2 goals in the second, and Niagara would net another to keep things even heading into the final frame.  The third period was all Hawks with goals by Lordy(Pilatzke), Eli Davis, Webby(Webb), and Fanjoy.  Riley was solid in net throughout and kept the boys in this one until they were able to wake up.  The Hawks were off to the finals in a rematch against Peterborough!

Quinte West gave little doubt in the final as to why they were there.  They played solid from the start, getting goals when needed, keeping penalties to a minimum, and controlling the play from start to finish.  Fanjoy would score a shorthanded goal in the first, Webby would net a dirty rebound in the second, and Weasy would add a tip in from Sillsy’s shot from the point for insurance in the third.  Carson Down would record another shutout victory and the Hawks would become The Northumberland Regional Silver Stick champs!  They will now play in the International Silver Stick tournament in Port Hurron in January!  Way to go Hawks!!
