The Quinte West Image Landscaping Minor Peewee A Hawks have opened up their season with a very strong start.  With early season wins over Oshawa (4-1), Pickering (5-0), and Ajax (10-0), the Hawks are an impressive 3-0 to start the season.  Even more impressive is the outstanding record of 19 goals for, and only 1 against in those first three games! Multiple players hit the scoresheets and their team chemistry continues to grow with every shift.

This past weekend, the Hawks competed in their first tournament together in the Belleville Minor Peewee AA Pre-Season Tilt.  Goals by Avery Wease and Charlie Mooney would not be enough to hold off the host team Belleville AA squad, as the tournament opener ended in a 4-2 loss.  The Hawks bounced back in their second game later in the day, as they won a good battle against Caledon which ended 6-4.  Sunny Fanjoy and Ethan Kenney had two goals a piece and singles were netted by Owen Ferguson and Avery Wease.  Game three took place on Saturday which saw the Hawks face Cumberland.  Three first period goals by Wease, Kenney, and Keagen Carr would have been enough, but Jack Andrews, Wease, and Kenney each added one more to lead to a 6-2 victory.  The boys ended their Saturday with a crossover game which saw them face Stoney Creek in an evening matchup.  Brock Davy led the offensive onslaught by scoring twice along with single goals by Fanjoy, Mooney, Wease, Kenney, Ferguson, and Holden Webster. This high scoring affair ended in a 9-5 victory which landed the Hawks in the semi final game on Sunday morning against the Clarington Toros.  A lone goal by Wease would not prove to be enough to move onto the final, as the Toros knocked out the Hawks with a heartbreaking loss.

Overall it has been an exciting start to the season filled with highlight reel goals and game changing saves by both goalies.  As this team begins to gel we all anticipate where this season will take us!  Let’s go Hawks!!
