The second round series is complete and your Quinte West Minor Peewee Image Landscape Hawks have swept the Kingston Canadians in three straight games!!

Game one at RCAF started as a nail biter with neither team able to solve the goaltending at either end in the first period. Dryden Riley played a solid first to keep the Hawks even at 0-0 as he was tested on the penalty kill multiple times. Turpin would get things going in the second as he netted a contested shot that went bar down early in the period. He would get another in the frame with a relatively harmless looking floater that would fool the net minder. Both goals were assisted by Holden Webster. The Kingston squad would get one back to keep it at a one goal game going into the third. The Hawks offensive strength and intensity eventually wore their opponents down as they would score three more in the third. Sunny Fanjoy(Mooney), Jack Andrews(Mooney, Coe), and Avery Wease(Slone, Andrews) would each add to the score, and Riley remained stellar in net to end game one at 5-1.

Game two was hosted by the Canadians as the Hawks would head to Kingston less than 24 hours after the game 1 beat down. The Hawks looked very shaky in the first period and couldn’t seem to get ahead of an aggressive Kingston squad. Ethan Kenney(Lordy) would manage to snipe the lone Hawks goal in the period but Kingston managed to get two past Carson Down who was tested often in the first period. The Hawks would refocus in the second period and pound in three unanswered goals by Wease(unassisted), Turpin(Sillzy), and Brock Davy(unassisted). Down continued to make key saves in the frame and keep the Hawks in this one. The final period was more of the same with insurance goals from Wease(Slone) and Mooney(Coe, Sillzy). Kingston would get one back but the Hawks would secure a convincing 6-3 win.

Game three was Thursday night back at the Hawks barn. There was no nail biting in this game as the Hawks played their strongest game of the series. They matched Kingston’s intensity in the first and moved the puck well. Riley played solid and kept the score 0-0 to end the first. The Hawks would start their scoring in the second with goals by Keagan Carr(Davy) and Jack Andrews(Wease). The third period became completely one sided as goals by Fanjoy(Ferg), Wease(Turpin), and Mooney(Lordy) would gas their opponents who had no answers for this explosive juggernaut. A 5-0 final finishes the series and sets up a quarter final battle with a hungry Whitby Blue team. Let’s go Hawks!!
