U15 A Golden Hawks steam roll into Peterborough

The Quinte West U15 A Golden Hawks continued their hot streak and came away with a 5-1 win against the Peterborough Pete’s on Saturday, 13 November. Bringing their regular season record to 5-0-0. They outshot the Pete’s 43-22.

Ethan Kenney started the scoring in the 1st period when he blocked a shot by a Pete’s defenceman which led to a breakaway goal (Unassisted). A few minutes later, Cole Baird tipped in a beauty goal, off the shot from Ethan Lord inside the blue line. Giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead, also assisted by Keagan Carr.

In the 2nd period, Ethan Kenney got on the scoreboard once again when he pushed through the Pete’s defence for a 5-hole goal, assisted by Charlie Mooney.

Keagen Carr opened up the scoring in the 3rd period, setup with an awesome pass by Cole Baird from behind the net, also assisted by Dexter Slone. Carr had a noticeable jump in the stride during the game which may have been due to his girlfriend’s attendance in the stands. Charlie Mooney then pushed the Hawks up 5-0 with a laser beam slapper just inside the blue line (Unassisted). As the kids say, “it was bar-downski”. The ping off the crossbar was rumoured to be heard from the parking lot. Peterborough ended up getting their lone goal late the in the 3rd period, final score 5-1 for the Golden Hawks.

Dryden Riley was very solid between the pipes for the Golden Hawks.

During the post-game presser, Golden Hawks Defenceman, Dexter Slone was asked what the key to victory was against the Pete’s. Slone responded with, “we played a physical game and out worked them on every part of the ice.”
