Hawks Drop Game One of Semi-Final to Orillia
The World Elite Training Minor Peewee Hawks opened their OMHA semi-final series against the Orillia Terriers on Saturday and came up sort losing 5-2 in a tight checking battle.
The two teams would trade goals early in the first with Orillia taking the lead just over three minutes into the period. The lead didn't last long as the Hawks would answer back 31 seconds later when Connor Boates tipped in a Connor Kokonas point shot. The teams would trade chances through the second period but would head to the third tied at one. Orillia would score the next two to take a 3-1 lead before the Hawks made it close on by Sterling Poff with assists going to Tyson Gregory and Cael Hussey. Orillia would score another to take a 4-2 lead before sealing the win with an empty net goal. Noah Groeneveld was solid in net for the Hawks.
The series will continue on Friday night in Orillia before returning to Quinte West for game 3 at 1:00pm on Saturday. Game four, if necessary will be back in Orillia on Sunday and game five will be in Trenton Monday night at 7:00pm if required.
