Peterborough Liftlock Cons. Champions!
Our U10 416 Wing Golden Hawks competed in the Peterborough Liftlock Tournament this past weekend, bringing home gold in the consolation finals with a 4-1 record! 

Friday our Hawks were matched up against Brantford 99ers AA team, our boys played hard but unfortunately fell short with a 6-2 loss, automatically pushing Quinte West over to the consolation group. Goals to Kye Ralph (2). assists by Wade Robinson and Colby MacDonald. Brent Conrod was in net for Quinte West.
Our Golden Hawks were up bright and early for a 7:15am game on Saturday against Orleans Blues. Apparently, the early morning wakeup call worked for our Hawks has they dominated the Blues with a 12-0 victory. Goals scored by Colby MacDonald (4), Lucas Scriver (2), Kaden Van Gemeren, Benry Prinzen, Michael Villeneuve, Kye Ralph, Wade Robinson and Cullen Bovine. Assists by MacDonald (3), Van Gemeren (2), Gregory (2), Poirier (2), Scriver, Taylor, Tamlin, Williamson and Rice. Alex Brant was in net for the Hawks.
Saturday afternoon our Golden Hawks took on the Orilla Terriers in a must win game to advance to the semis. Quinte West fell behind 0-2 but the hawks battled hard and worked together as team to take a 4-2 win over the Terriers. Goals scored by Kye Ralph, Colby MacDonald, Michael Villeneuve and Max Taylor. Assists by Taylor and MacDonald. Brent Conrod was between the pipes for Quinte West.
Up next our Hawks took on Toronto Wolverines in the Semi Finals on Sunday morning. It was do or die and the Golden hawks fought hard. It was an intense, back and forth game but the Hawks were able to hold off the Wolverines and take home a 3-1 win. Goals by Michael Villeneuve (2), and Kaden Van Gemeren. Assists by Ralph (2) and MacDonald (2). Alex Brant was in net for Quinte West.
Our Golden Hawks found themselves facing off against East Gwillimbury Eagles in the consolation championship game. Brent Conrod would find himself in net for the Golden Hawks. The first period began fast and furious with both teams holding their own, but the Eagles would strike first to end the period 0-1. As the second period began both goalies made stellar saves to keep their teams alive but Mighty Max Taylor would find the back of the net for Quinte West to tie the game. The eagles would respond quickly with one of their own to once again take the lead. Our Hawks were not giving up without a fight and Michael Villeneuve would receive a beauty pass from Spencer Tamlin to tie the game one more time to end the second period. As the third began both teams had multiple opportunities but no luck until Colby MacDonald found the back of the net and giving Quinte West the lead. The game would continue to go back and forth and in the last 2 minutes of the period the Eagles were able to sneak one by Conrod to end the third period tied. Overtime was an intense nail bitter that had all the fans on the edge of their seats but both teams would find themselves having no luck finding the net which then led us to an OT sudden death Shootout. First shooter for Quinte West was Colby MacDonald, both MacDonald and the Eagles shooter would score forcing another round. Next was Kye Ralph and the Eagles big shooter, both players would miss their shots and another round was needed. Our Captain Wade Robinson was shooting for the Hawks and came through with a goal! Conrod was staring down his opponent, looking for him to make the move and came through with a big save! The Golden Hawks were Champions!
