Off to the OMHA Finals!
What a semifinal series it was! There was very little between the Pita Pit Peewees and their semifinal opponent Georgina Blaze as they were very evenly matched. Each game was won by only a goal, two in overtime, with the Hawks on the winning end each time to sweep the series in three games straight.

The Peewees had met Georgina twice this year at a tournament in September and had won both games. But that was what seems like a hockey lifetime ago so the boys knew they could not take anything for granted. They traveled up to Georgina for Game 1 where goaltending became the story as both goaltenders kept the game sheet clean for the first two periods. The Hawks struck first in the third but the Blaze answered back to tie the game and send it to overtime. The first shift of overtime was all that was needed as the Hawks scored quickly to win 2 - 1.Noteworthy as well was that there was not a single penalty called for either team…great let-em-play hockey! Game 2 at the Dunc proved to be much of the same with no score until the third period. The Hawks scored first again but the Blaze battled back to even the score. It was looking like another trip to overtime was in store but with only 43 seconds left the Hawks slid one past the Georgina goalie to make the final a 2 – 1 win. The Hawks were faced with a dreaded mid-week away game to try to douse the Blaze in Game 3. The Blaze came out all fired up and scored the first goal early in the firs tperiod. Still in the first, the Hawks leveled the score only to have the Blaze score again and the score remained 2 – 1 going into the third period. The Hawks evened the score midway through the frame to send it into overtime for the second time of the series. Thefirst shift of overtime was all it took again for the Hawks to come away with the 3 - 2 win; punching their ticket to the OMHA finals! The Pita Pit Peewees now wait to see if they will be playing the St Thomas Jr Stars or Owen Sound Jr Attack in the finals.
