Hawks Put In A Great Effort At Silver Stick
The Rhino Hockey Training Minor Atom Hawks were 2-1 at the Silver Stick tournament this weekend and narrowly missed a spot in the semi-finals.

The team came out of the gate with a great effort on Friday and walked away with a 4-2 win over the Kingston Canadiens. Gavin Armstrong, Tyson Gregory, Phoebe Mooney and Colby Wiersma supplied the goals while assists went to Jakob Harnest, Wiersma, Quinton Bogart, Owen Vis, Pearson MacDonald, Eli Kenney(2) and Armstrong. Alex Bisset picked up the win in net.

In game one on Saturday the Hawks played a tight checking game against the Peterborough Petes and eventually came away with a 2-1 victory. Aiden Haker scored the winner with just under 4 minutes to play, Tyson Gregory has the other goal with assists going to Connor Boates and Armstrong. Cooper Martin got the win in goal.

On Saturday afternoon the Hawks were in tough against the Osgoode Rideau Romans from Ottawa and needed at least a tie to ensure themselves a spot in the semi-finals. The team came out strong but after a disallowed goal on the first shift they fell behind 2-0 heading to the third period. The team held it together and put forth an incredible effort in the third period, coming back to tie the game with just over 4 minutes remaining. Unfortunately they were victimized by a suspect hooking penalty with three minutes remaining and the Romans capitalized on the power play scoring the game winning goal. Connor Kokonas and Harnest scored the goals for Quinte West. MacDonald, Wiersma and Armstrong picked up assists.

The Hawks have a light week with only one game as they host the Peterborough Petes on Saturday afternoon in Trenton.
