Our U10 Quinte West Golden Hawks have won the Northumberland Regional Silver Stick Championship!
Our Golden Hawks traveled to Cobourg this past weekend to compete in the Regional Silver Stick tournament. First up on Friday, Quinte West faced off against Castor River Canucks. It was a tough back and forth battle, but Quinte West took the victory with a 3-1 win. Goals to Colby MacDonald (2), and Kaden VanGemeren (1). Brent Conrod was in net for the win.
First up on Saturday our Golden Hawks took on Perth Wings. Our Golden Hawks were flying taking an early lead in the first period and they never looked back to earn themselves a 6-1 win! Goals to Kye Ralph (1), Michael Villeneuve (2), Wade Robinson (2), and Colby MacDonald (1). Assists to Spencer Tamlin (1), Lucas Scriver (1), Max Taylor (1), and Kye Ralph (1). Alexander Brant was between the pipes for the Golden Hawks.
Saturday afternoon we took on Whitby Wildcats White. Unfortunately, the Golden Hawks fell behind 2-0 and were never able to catch up to the Wildcats earning themselves their first loss of the tournament. Brent Conrod was in net for Quinte West.
Next up on Sunday, Quinte West faced off against the undefeated Ottawa West Golden Knights in the semifinals! Our Golden Hawks were the underdogs going into the game, but they fought hard and never gave up earning themselves a 6-3 victory and more importantly earning themselves a spot in the finals! Goals to Wade Robinson (3), Michael Villeneuve (2), and Colby MacDonald (1). Assists by Scriver (2), Poirier, VanGemeren, MacDonald, Tamlin, Williamson, Corbin-Miron and Robinson. Alexander Brant was in net for the Golden Hawks.
Quinte West was taking on the Whitby Wildcats Blue in the championship game. Both teams came out flying and hungry for the win. Wade Robinson scored first for Quinte West, but Whitby responded quickly with a goal of their own. Michael Villeneuve was in the right place at the right time to give Quinte West the 2-1 lead to end the first period. As the second period began Kye Ralph found the back of the net followed quickly by Captain Wade Robinson. Whitby found themselves with a penalty shot earning themselves the goal and closing the gap 4-2 to end the second. As the third period began both teams were bringing the heat in a tense back and forth battle. Colby MacDonald found himself on a breakaway to add to Quinte West's lead, but Whitby put on the pressure and added a pair of goals to make the score 5-4. Our Golden Hawks wanted the win, and they wanted it bad as they gave it everything they had. Colby MacDonald found the back of the net another 2 times to seal their fate and give the Golden Hawks the 7-4 victory! Brent Conrod was stellar between the pipes for the Golden Hawks!
Next up our Golden Hawks will travel to Newmarket to compete in the International Silver Stick Finals on January 26-29th.
Congratulations to our U10A Quinte West Golden Hawks and Coaching Staff!
