Hawks Show Well In Richmond Hill Tournament
The CPS Wood Products/Rhino Hockey Training Novice A Hawks opened the season at the Richmond Hill Stars Early Bird Tournament.
The Hawks had a win and three losses but played very well all weekend.
In game one the Hawks had their best performance of the tournament defeating the East Gwillimbury Eagles 5-2. Connor Boates led the offence with a hat trick while Tyson Gregory and Jakob Harnest scored the other goals. Assists went to Matt Hicks, Noah Lesser and Gregory. Reese Deline picked up the win in net.
In Game two the Hawks came out strong and took a 2-1 lead to the third period before falling 4-2 to the Metcalfe Jets. Gregory and Bogart supplied the scoring while Boates and Seth Scaletta each picked up a single assist.
In game three Saturday morning the Hawks had another strong performance against a very good Whitby Wildcats (Blue) team. The boys from Quinte West once again took a 2-1 lead to the third period but were unable to hang on and lost 4-3. Lesser, Harnest and Scaletta each scored a goal for the Hawks.
In game four, a very tired Hawks squad was not up to the challenge and fell to tournament semi-finalists Guleph Gryphons 9-0.
The Novice Hawks are back in action this coming weekend as they travel to Port Perry and Saturday before hosting the Whitby Wildcats (white) at the community Gardens at 12:30pm on Sunday.
