Hawks Win the Guelph Power Play, News, PeeWee A, 2015-2016 (Quinte West Minor Hockey Association)

The Scaletta Group Quinte West Hawks captured the Guelph Power Play Championship with a 4-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons.

The Hawks opened the weekend with a 2-0 win over the New Hamburg Huskies on Friday morning.  Friday afternoon, they ran into a very feisty Meadowvale Mohawks team handing the Hawks a 3-1 loss.  Saturday afternoon, the Hawks rebounded with a very convincing 3-1 victory over the St. Thomas Stars.  Needing a win Saturday night to secure a spot in the Semi Finals on Sunday, the Hawks hammered the Woodstock Jr Navy Vets AA 5-0, setting up a semi final match vs the Burlington Bulldogs Red on Sunday.  In the Semi, the Hawks played their best game of the tournament holding the Bulldogs to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation time.  In the 3 on 3 sudden death overtime, both teams traded scoring chances before Matt Lombardi ended the game with just over a minute left in the OT period. In the Final, the Hawks dominated the Guelph Gryphons, overpowering the Gryphons 4-1, capturing their second tournament title this season.  Congratulations boys!
