RULES

1.      Hockey Canada rules & OMHA regulations will govern all games with the following additional rules for the tournament operation.

2.      Teams must report to the Tournament Office 30 mins prior to their games to verify rosters.

3.      All teams are guaranteed 3 games.

5.      Teams must be prepared to play up to 15 minutes before their schedules start time.

6. All games will be ½ ice. Games will consist of 2 - 24 min halves. There will be a shift change buzzer every 2 mins. Visiting teams will switch ends at half time. U7 will use bumper pads to section of ice and U8 will use the arena boards.

7.  One coach from each team will be on ice as a “ref”, and be identified prior to the game. These coaches are required to wear a helmet.

NOTE:

  • Dressing rooms will be provided, but will be shared with other teams. If possible please have your player ready as much as possible prior to arrival at the rink. Please be respectful of other players and parents.

RULES of PLAY:

● All games will be NON-BODYCHECKING.

● Each game will start with a face-off. No other face-offs will take place during the game.

● If the puck is frozen by the goaltender or a goal is scored, a whistle will stop play. Offensive zone players must retreat to half ice. Any player that commits a penalty will be sent to the bench for the rest of the shift.

○ This is a learning experience and the player should be instructed on what was done incorrectly

SHIFTS:

● Player shifts will be two (2) minutes in length. A buzzer will signal the end/start of each shift.

● Players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice upon buzzer signal at the end/start of each shift. The new shift of players may enter the ice surface when all players of the previous shift have gotten to the boards.

● If a team’s shift change is less than 4 skaters due to a small roster, any player(s) remaining on the ice must return to their bench area and “tag up”, i.e., touch the top of the boards, before returning to play.
