WINNING WEEKEND FOR U13 RS
The Quinte West U13 Select Golden Hawks picked up where they left off in both games this weekend.
Saturday night the Hawks travelled to Lindsay to take on the Muskies. Keegan Wood got the start in net. The Muskies came out strong but the Hawks were up for the challenge. Colton Heddle opened the scoring finding the net with just under two minutes to go in the first. Wood made some fantastic saves during the opening period, and the first period ended 1-0.
During the second period, the Hawks found the net twice. Nico DiPietrantonio found the twine after a pass from Tye McMurter to make it 2-0 Hawks. Ten minutes later, Owen Chamberlain fired a shot beating the Muskies goaltender. That goal was assisted by Brody Bucholtz.
The third period saw end to end action with both teams battling hard. Wood was up to the challenge stopping a breakaway and multiple shots. Jackson Doty buried a goal from Preston Kench and DiPietrantonio to make it 4-0 and that was all the Hawks needed. Wood picked up his first complete game shut out of the season. Great team win!
Sunday in Frankford, The Golden Hawks took on Kingston C.A.L., with Zeke Gibson getting the start between the pipes. The Hawks got off to a quick start with two goals in 32 seconds, followed by a third goal a minute and a half after.
Kingston dug in and challenged the Hawks with some good back and forth action, but Gibson stood strong and stopped all of the shots he faced securing his first full game shutout of the season.
