On Sunday, December 5th the U15A Golden Hawks hosted the visiting Oshawa Generals for an afternoon tilt. It was a hard-hitting affair which resulted in the Hawks coming away with a 3-1 win. The Hawks outshot the Generals 52 to 15.

The Captain of the Golden Hawks, Brock ‘here comes the train’ Davy got the momentum going with two massive hits in the 1st period. This got the boys fired up on the offensive end. Cole Baird said, ‘yes, please’ and buried the first goal of the game, assisted by Jack Andrews.

Oshawa had the lone goal in the 2nd period, tying it up 1-1 going into the 3rd period. The hard hitting carried over into the 2nd period with notable hits by Ethan Lord, Charlie Mooney and Keagan Carr.

In the 3rd period, Brock Davy put the Hawks ahead 2-1 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Cole Baird. A couple minutes later, Colby Coe buried a rumble in the jungle goal, in front of the net, assisted by Charlie Mooney and Ethan Lord. This solidified the 3-1 victory.

Dryden Riley was between the pipes for the Hawks, bringing home the big win. Riley made some awesome saves down the stretch, not letting the Generals gain momentum in the game.

The U15A Golden Hawks hockey family would like to congratulate the Head Coach, Mike Belej on becoming a grandfather this week. Coach Mike mentioned to the team that now that he is a grandfather, he will not swear as much. The players noted that shortly after Coach Mike said he was not going to swear, one slipped out, then another, and another. The team is going to implement a ‘swear-jar’ for Coach Mike, in hopes that this will fund a season ending vacation for the players. At this rate, an all expenses paid vacation to Florida is a possibility.

This brings the U15A Golden Hawks unbeaten streak to 11-0-0 on the regular season. The team only has one game scheduled next week, they will faceoff against the Whitby Wildcats (White) on the road, on Friday, December 10th at 9pm.
