Hawks Take 3 of 4 Points From Toros
The World Elite Training Minor Peewee Hawks opened their OMHA quarter final series with a tie and a win this weekend.

Not seeing any game action for two weeks after their sweep of Whitby the Hawks had to shake off the rust but came away with three points of the six required to win the series vs. the Clarington Toros.

The series opened at the Dunc on Saturday and the Hawks took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Aiden Haker with assists going to Colby Wiersma and Jakob Harnest. This would be all the offence the home side would find on this day and after a 10 minute overtime period they settled for a 1-1 tie in the series opener with each team being granted a single point. Nowl Wallace stood on his head between the pipes and was a huge reason the game ended in a tie.

On Sunday the Hawks traveled to Clarington for game 2. This was another tight checking affair with the teams tied at zero after the first. The Hawks opened the scoring in the second but found themselves trailing 2-1 at the end of the period before scoring three unanswered goals in the third to take a 4-2 win and a 3 points to 1 lead in the series. Connor Kokonas lead the offence with two goals while singles went to Gavin Armstrong and Tyson Gregory. Picking up assists were Gregory, Brendan Reid and Matt Hicks. The Hawks got another stellar goaltending performance this time by Noah Groeneveld who picked up the win in net.

Game three will be at home in Trenton on Tuesday at 6:15pm before the teams go back to Clarington on Saturday for game 4. If game five is required it will be back on home ice Sunday at 3:15pm.
