Sunday Vs. Wildcats White
U15 A Golden Hawks keep their unbeaten streak going

The Whitby Wildcats White came to town for a late Sunday afternoon matchup. It was a hard-hitting affair, and the Golden Hawks defence did not give the Wildcats many opportunities.

The defensive prowess was led by Nathan Sills. Of notable mention, was when Sills made an awesome glove save in the slot from a slapshot from a Whitby defenceman. Only problem being, defenceman do not wear goalie gloves. The sore hand did not deter Sills. The next shift out, he put his body in front of another slapshot, stopping the puck with the side of his leg. This hardnose defense rallied up the team and the scoring onslaught began.

Colby Coe started the scoring in the 1st period with a nice wrap-around goal, assisted by Jack Andrews. A few minutes later, Brock Davy skated down the slot and put in a beauty goal, assisted by Ethan Kenney.

Brock Davy got his second goal of the game with a hard slapper in the 2nd period, assisted by Charlie Mooney.

In the 3rd period, Brody Pilatzke had a laser beam, bardownski goal, assisted by Keagan Carr. Dexter Slone then got in on the action. Slone read Whitby Wildcat’s breakout play perfectly, stole the puck, skated through the defence, and got the bar-down goal with a Wildcat draped on his back, then slid into boards, while doing a celly and smile on his face. Charlie Mooney then tipped in a sick goal from a Dexter Slone shot from the blue line. Mooney then got his 2nd goal of the game, from the side of the net. Mooney was setup from a botched ‘Michigan’ attempt by Ethan Kenney.

Carson Down was in net and got the big shutout win.

In the post-game presser, star defenceman Nathan Sills was asked, “what do you think of in that split second when you decide to put your body in front of a shot?” Sills responded with, “sometimes as a player you can make some really poor decisions, and every time that I catch or stop a shot, I am reminded of that. I would also like to point out that, teamwork makes the dream work!”

This brings the Image Landscaping U15A Golden Hawks regular season record to 8-0-0. Next weekend (25-27 November) the team will be away competing in the Barrie Peggy Hill Classic.
