Snowball Express JAMBOREE RULES
March 10, 2025
RULES
1. Hockey Canada rules & OMHA regulations will govern all games with the following additional rules for the tournament operation.
2. Teams must report to the Tournament Office 30 mins prior to their games to verify rosters.
3. All teams are guaranteed three, one hour, ice sessions, with each session consisting of two mini-games.
4. Only players on the approved roster are eligible to play in the tournament.
5. Teams must be prepared to play up to 15 minutes before their schedules start time.
6. All games will be ½ ice. Games will consist of 2 - 24 min halves. There will be a shift change buzzer every 2 mins. Visiting teams will switch ends at half time. Bumper pads will be used to section off the ice on Pad A and half ice boards on Pad B.
7. One coach from each team will be allowed on the ice, if they wish to do so. We have scheduled a referee for each 1/2 ice. Any coach that goes onto the ice is required to wear a helmet.
NOTE:
Dressing rooms will be provided but will be shared with other teams. If possible, please have your player ready as much as possible prior to arrival at the rink. Please be respectful of other players and parents. Only one family member will accompany their player to the dressing room.
RULES of PLAY:
● All games will be NON-BODYCHECKING.
● Each game will start with a face-off. No other face-offs will take place during the game.
● If the puck is frozen by the goaltender or a goal is scored, a whistle will stop play. Offensive zone players must retreat back to their zone. Any player that commits a penalty will be sent to the bench for the rest of the shift.
○ A penalty is a learning experience with these age groups, and the player should be instructed on what was done incorrectly
SHIFTS:
● Player shifts will be two (2) minutes in length. A buzzer will signal the end/start of each shift.
● Players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice upon buzzer signal at the end/start of each shift. The new shift of players may enter the ice surface when all players of the previous shift have touched the boards.
● If a team’s shift change is less than 4 skaters due to a small roster, any player(s) remaining on the ice must return to their bench area and “tag up”, i.e., touch the top of the boards, before returning to play.
