Stellar Performance in the Silver Stick
The U14 Nomad Quinte West Golden Hawks participated in the Regional Silver Stick Qualifiers tournament this weekend making it to the Championship game.

In game one the team would down the Ottawa West Golden Knights with a score of 6 to 4.  Opening the scoring but also earning himself a hat trick would be Cohen Heales.  Joey Nieman, Rhys Lawrence and Malcolm Brooks would also add to the tally.  Assists go to Keegan Goulah (2), Brooks and Cam Slone.  Nico Toussaint with the win in net.

Next up the Hawks would take on the Ajax/Pickering Raiders.  It was a tight game on the scoreboard thanks to the Raiders goalie.  The team would dominate much of the game but Riley Kavanagh would be the only Hawk to squeak 2 past their goalie.  Assists from Hayden Parent, Fynn Ralph, Keegan Goulah and Kale Tawse.  Owen Curran earned the win in net.

In Saturday afternoon game action the team would crunch the hosting team the Northumberland Nighthawks 7 to 3.  Hunter Bradbury would land himself a goal while Joey Nieman would land himself 4.  Malcolm Brooks and Hayden Parent would also find the back of the net.  Assists from  Kavanagh, Goulah, Elijah MacDonald, Logan Fonger, Cam Slone(2), Tawse, Heales and Ralph. Nico Toussaint with another great performance in net.

Sunday saw the Hawks battling the West Carlton Crusaders in the semifinals game which would have the Hawks fans on the edge of their seats all game, including the intense double overtime.  The teams were evenly stacked and it was anyone's game to win.  Regulation time saw the teams locked at 3 with 2 goals from Malcolm Brooks and one from Riley Kavanagh.  Assists were from Cohen Heales, Keegan Goulah, Logan Fonger and Kale Tawse.  The team headed to the first 3 on 3 overtime where neither team would score.  Owen Curran kept the team in the game making the crucial saves and finally Healesy would land the game winning goal, ending the second overtime period sending the Hawks to the championship game.

The Championship game is where the team would once again face the Clarington Toros.  The Toros had beaten the team in the semifinals game a few weeks ago in the Peter Mancuso tournament.  Unfortunately the Toros came out ahead of the Hawks again in this game beating them 3 to 1.   Keegan Goulah scored the lone goal from Logan Fonger and Hunter Bradbury.  Owen Curran was once again steady between the pipes.

The U14 Nomads have one game this weekend where they will host the Belleville Bulls at 1:30pm at the Duncan McDonald arena as they return to Lakeshore League play.
