The U14 Team Tackle Hockey in Niagara Falls
The U14 Nomad Quinte West Golden Hawks had a great performance in the Peter Mancuso tournament in Niagara Falls this past weekend.

On Friday the team took on the Bradford Bulldogs.  The Hawks wouldn't find their groove until the third period but still earned a 4 to 0 victory. Nico Toussaint would get a shutout in net.  Malcolm Brooks would use his hefty slapshot and fire one in and add another later on in the period.  Cohen Heales would receive a pass from Joey Nieman to add to the tally followed by Kale Tawse with a shot from the blueline.  Assists from Heales and Cam Slone.

After a night of sight seeing and enjoying all that Niagara Falls had to offer the boys would rally together to beat the Oshawa Generals.  Brooks would once again open the scoring and quickly add another from Keegan Goulah and Riley Kavanagh.  Cohen Heales would tip in one from a shot from Rhys Lawrence.  Kavanagh would land one himself from a pass from Joey Nieman and Kale Tawse.  Owen Curran was steady between the pipes.

The team would later fall to the Garden City Falcons on Saturday evening, but they had already secured their place in the semi-finals.  The Hawks almost rallied back to tie it up but fell short in a 4 to 3 loss against the Falcons.  Malcolm Brooks would continue his 2 goals a game trend and Keegan Goulah would add the third goal.  Assists from Goulah, Logan Fonger, Rhys Lawrence and Hunter Bradbury.  Nico Toussaint made several good saves in net.

In Sunday's semi-finals game the team would square off against the Clarington Toros.  Unfortunately the Golden Hawks struggled and came up short with a score of 4 to 1.  Andrew Gilson scored the lone goal for the Hawks from Heales and Nieman.  Owen Curran was stellar in net.
The end result of the tournament may not have been what we had hoped for and unfortunately it seemed that the team was battling a flu bug. The weekend was full of excitement, team bonding and memories that will last a lifetime.

The Nomad Golden Hawks have a slew of home games coming up.  They are set to take on the Kingston Canadians on Wednesday November 16th at 7pm at the Duncan MacDonald arena.  On Friday November 18th, in Frankford they will meet the North Durham Warriors followed by a game against Whitby Blue at the Duncan MacDonald arena on Sunday Nov 20th at 1:30 pm.  Come cheer on the U14 team.
