The U14 A Nomads head to the Belleville AA Tournament
The U14 Nomad Quinte West Golden Hawks didn't have to travel too far to partake in their first tournament of the season in Belleville this weekend.

The team entered the AA tournament to shake off the dust and get their legs ready for the upcoming season.  It was a great way to support a local tournament while watching some fellow Quinte West teams that were there as well.

The first game would see the Golden Hawks facing the Timmins North Stars.  The team would fall short in a final of 4 - 1 and the North Stars would eventually be crowned the U14AA champions of the tournament.  Scoring the lone goal for the Hawks would be Kale Tawse from a behind the net pass from Malcom Brooks.  Owen Curran lead the team in net.

Game two on Friday the team would lose 4 -1 to the Glancaster Bombers.  The boys fought in and end to end battle against them bombers.  Elijah MacDonald would score unassisted while Nico Toussaint would have his first ever game in net for the U14 team.

Saturday Nico would hold steady in net to lead the team to a 1-1 tie vs North Durham Warriors.  Malcolm Brooks put the puck in the net for the Hawks and Elijah MacDonald earned the assist.

Our final game of the tournament the boys would have another strong performance as they came out to play and never gave up.  This was exactly how they performed throughout the tournament with a never give up attitude.  The RSL Kings proved to be too much for the Hawks and would walk away with a 5-1 victory.  The team played a very strong defensive game that saw plenty of shots on Owen who had a stellar performance in net.  Cam Slone would be the goal scorer for the team as he tipped in a shot from Antonio Popiel.

Despite not advancing, the team had a great performance in a AA tournament which will assist them in their upcoming season.  The season officially starts this weekend.  On Friday the team will head to Ajax and on Saturday they will travel to Kingston.  The first home game of the season is on Sunday Oct 9th at 1:30 pm when the Golden Hawks will take on the North Durham Warriors at the Duncan McDonald arena.  Come on out to cheer on your U14 Nomad Golden Hawks.
