The Quinte West U11AA Golden Hawks had a busy, but successful, weekend of hockey as they hosted two home games and traveled for one away game.
The Hawks started the weekend early with a 3-0 win versus Belleville Bulls on home ice Thursday. They fought hard with a strong effort throughout the game to hold the lead. Goals were scored by Josh Korver, Nate Wain and Griffin Van Gemeren. Assists went to Levi Mallory (2), Ben Villeneuve and Nate Wain.
Preston Martin took home a shutout in net.
After a rest day on Friday, the Hawks hosted the Ajax- Pickering Raiders on home ice Saturday and took their second win of the weekend. Hawks goals were scored by Noah Carrè-Stewart (3), Nikolai Caron(2), Nate Wain, Josh Korver and Brody Bucholtz. Assists went to Nate Wain, Nikolai Caron and Kohen Couperus. Bryce Lawrence held strong in the net to bring home the win.
To finish the weekend the Hawks traveled to Peterborough on Sunday to battle the Peterborough Petes. Unfortunately, despite their hard fought battle they fell to a 5-3 loss. Goals were scored by Noah Carrè-Stewart, Kohen Couperus and Karson Hamilton. Assists went to Karson Hamilton and Levi Mallory.
Hawks will take a break this coming weekend as they prepare to battle in their final games of the season.
