Quinte West Golden Hawks U11AA hosted Northumberland Nighthawks on home ice Friday evening. Hawks played hard as a team and secured an 8-1 win.
Hawks came out strong in the first period of the game, scoring 3 goals against the Nighthawks. Goals in the first period period were scored by Griffin Van Gemeren, Kohen Couperus and Karson Hamilton. Assists were from Nico Leone and Nikolai Caron. The score at the end of the first period was 3-0 Hawks.
In the second period the Hawks continued their hard work and were able to sink an additional 3 goals into the back of the Nighthawks net. Goals were scored by Roy Finch, Nico Leone an Nikolai Caron. Assists were from Kohen Couperus, Nikolai Caron and Alex Dolton, finishing the second period with a score of 6-0.
Hawks knew they needed to keep up the effort to secure their win so they continued to battle hard in the third period. With two more goals and only one against, they were sure to secure their win. Goals were scored by Noah Trice and Josh Korver. Assists came from Kohen Couperus and Alex Dolton. Final score of the game was 8-1 for the Golden Hawks. Bryce Lawrence held strong in the net for the win!
