Golden Hawks Open Season with 2 Big Wins!
The U10 Quinte West Golden Hawks had an impressive opening weekend as they kicked off their season in Lakeshore League Hockey.
Saturday the Golden Hawks hosted the North Durham Warriors in their home opener. Quinte West took a quick lead with Max Taylor scoring first followed by another quick goal by Wade Robinson. Lucas Corbin-Miron gave the Golden Hawks a 3-0 lead to end the first period. As the second period began, North Durham came out strong scoring twice to close the gap. Quinte West battled hard with Colby MacDonald scoring 3 goals in a row to push out the lead. With momentum under their belt, the Golden Hawks came out flying in the third with another goal by Robinson. A beauty pass by Blake Gregory gave Connor Williamson his first goal of the season and another goal each from MacDonald and Taylor to end the third period. Alexander Brant was solid between the pipes for the Golden Hawks 10-2 win.
Sunday the Golden Hawks travelled to Ajax-Pickering to take on the undefeated Raiders. Wade Robinson opened up the scoring with a beauty goal and followed quickly was Micheal Villeneuve scoring his first goal of the season. The second period the Golden Hawks continued to dominate with Colby MacDonald scoring 3 goals and Wade Robinson adding another. Quinte West was not letting up as the third period began with MacDonald adding another 2 goals, Cullen Bovine getting his first of the season and Max Taylor adding another to end the game. Brent Conrod gave a stellar performance in net for the 10-1 win.
