Game vs Peterborough Pete’s Thursday 02 December @ 8pm

The Image Landscaping Quinte West U15A Golden Hawks hosted the Peterborough Pete’s on Thursday, December 2nd.

The Golden Hawks started the game with a slow start and found themselves trailing 1-0 after one period of action. During the 1st intermission, the Hawk’s coach fired up the team with a speech equal to, or better than Herb Brooks’ speech in the movie, ‘Miracle’. It is believed that the Hawks Coach said something along the line

of, “you were born to be hockey players, everyone of you. And you were meant to be here tonight!”

With this new found motivation, the Hawks scoring action started from Colby Coe drawing a penalty. On the ensuing powerplay, Keagan Carr fired in a nasty goal (assisted by Jack Andrews and Charlie Mooney). A few minutes later, the same line put the team up 2-1 with a rebound goal from Jack Andrews (assisted by Keagan Carr and Charlie Mooney). Then late in the 2nd period, Carr gave Cole Baird a beauty pass from behind the goal line and Baird slapped in the one-timer.

In the 3rd period, the Golden Hawks continued to dominate. The team was putting pressure on the Pete’s, they tried to get the puck out of their zone but were stopped in their tracks when Dexter Slone laid a massive hit on a Pete’s player trying clear the puck out of their zone. On that same play, Carr put in his 2nd goal of night (assisted by Jacob Brummell and Cole Baird). A few minutes later, the Hawks were shorthanded, Carr thought, ‘short-handed? No problem!’ then buried his 3rd goal of the night (assisted by Andrews). Late in the 3rd period, Tate Webb took the puck from behind his goalie, skated all the way behind the opposing goalie, then around the face off circle, playing a game of ‘you can’t catch me’ then skated down the slot and shot it in (unassisted).

Dryden Riley was in net for the Golden Hawks. Riley was solid once again for the team, only allowing 1 goal.

After the game, star forward Keagan Carr was asked, “how did you prepare for this game? Getting a hat-trick and 2 assists in one game is quite impressive!” Carr responded with, “uhhhh, I laid in bed watching Tik-Tok while eating crackers. It’s a godly strategy that not very many people know about.”

The game ended 6-1, bringing the U15A Golden Hawks record to 9-0-0 for the season.
