Great Performance for the U13 Golden Hawks in the Silver Stick Qualifier
The U13 Nomads Golden Hawks started off in the Silver Stick on the right foot as they faced off against the Nickel City Sharks.

The Hawks downed the Sharks 5 to 1.  Owen Curran was solid in net.  Scoring for the Hawks were Joey Nieman, Rhet Sharp, Riley Kavanagh, Rhys Lawrence and Hayden Parent.  Assists go to Rhet Sharp (2), Kavanagh, Nieman (2) and Hunter Bradbury.

The next game would see the team squaring off against the Belleville Jr. Bulls.  Logan Wain would earn the well-deserved win in net with a 5 to 4 victory.  Cam Slone would find the back of the net and earn himself a hat trick.  Lane Sharp and Riley Kavanagh would each contribute to the tally.  Assists from Kavanagh, Parent, Sullivan Tait, Nieman and Slone.

On Saturday the Hawks would tie at 4 against the Napanee Stars.  Lane and Rhet Sharp would both earn goals followed by Kavanagh and Slone.  Assists from Slone, Malachi Hoornweg and Rhet Sharp.  Owen Curran with the win in net.

Going into Sundays semi-finals the team remained undefeated.  They were set to face the Kingston Frontenacs in what would be an epic game that continued into a double overtime victory.  Hayden Parent buried two goals and Cam Slone would land the game winning goal after a sweet pass from team mate Joey Nieman.  Curran was solid between the pipes.

Earning their way into the finals the team was set to play against the Napanee Stars once again.  Joey Nieman opened the scoring and Cam Slone scored a shorthanded goal and an assist.  Napanee was a force to be reckoned with and would tie the game up with 41 seconds left on the clock forcing overtime.  Unfortunately, the Hawks could not find the back of the net in time and Napanee came out with the win.

The weekend was jam packed with the team progressing into the finals and providing their fans some exciting hockey to watch.  The U13 Hawks return to regular season games this weekend as they travel to Whitby on Saturday and play host to Ajax on Sunday at 3pm at the Duncan McDonald rink.
