The U10 Hawks have started their season with two big wins this weekend. On Saturday the Hawks played hard as a team to come out with the win against Peterborough. Their starting left defence, Noah Carre-Stewart, was no match for the opponent’s goal tender as he fired in the first goal of the game. The Hawks maintained the lead for the game and came out with a celebratory win. Goals were scored by Tye McMurter, Roy Finch, Josh Korver, Levi Mallory, Kohen Couperus and Griffin Van Gemeren, who rocked his first hat trick of the season.
Preston Martin held strong in the net making some great glove saves and coming out with the win.
On Sunday the team travelled to Whitby for their second league game. Their hard work and determination saw them come out with a second win. Goals were scored by Tye McMurter, Nico Leone, Kohen Couperus, Griffin Van Gemeren(2), Nikolai Caron(2), Alex Dolton(2), Ben Villeneuve, Levi Mallory and Josh Korver(2).
Bryce Lawrence stood tall between the pipes, making an incredible save on a penalty shot and finishing the game with just one goal scored against.
The Hawks are on the road this coming weekend as they travel to Niagara Falls for their first tournament.
They will be playing their first home game on November 13 at the Duncan Macdonald Arena.
