A Solid Weekend for the Hawks
The Madison Excavating Bantam A Hawks had a successful weekend when facing the North Durham Warriors and the Pickering Panthers. Saturday’s game against the Warriors looked a little different than last week. The Hawks were on their game, they kept the pressure on, their passes were solid as the Hawks found the scoreboard every period. Vince Bellavance started the scoring off helped out by Layne Cocek and Will Potts. Owen Bell found an opening in the net to make the score 2-0 helped by Potts and Jakob Gardner.

Potts scored a beauty after being set up by Justin Bolduc. The Warriors were able to score at the end of the first to try and close the gap going into the second. Cocek, Bellavance and Bolduc also had goals later in the game assisted by Bellavance, Gardner, Potts and Noah Ferguson. The Warriors did find the net once more but it just wasn’t enough to seal the win. Seamus Killeen between the pipes.

At home on Sunday, the Pickering Panthers were here for one last faceoff. The Hawks continued on with their scoring streak and found the net multiple times. Vince Bellavance started the scoring off being helped out by Ryan Kirk and Noah Ferguson. Tyvian Koets received a nice pass from Layne Cocek to make the score 2-0. Bellavance (2) and Cocek(1) continued the scoring in the second with help by Shane Jerrett and Mac Slone.  There was not a third period slow down in this game, as the pucks continued to move. Jerrett, Owen Bell and Daniel McLeod-Lockwood all found the mesh with a little help from Slone, Justin Bolduc, Will Potts and McLeod-Lockwood. Eric McKeown with the shutout.

The Hawks have a busy week leading into the Christmas Break. They are on the road Thursday Dec.19 as the face the Belleville Bulls and they will have back to back home games Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the Oshawa Generals will travel the McMullen arena for a 5 pm puck drop and Sunday will be our regular home game at 3:15pm against Whitby Blue at the Duncan Memorial arena.
