Hawks Have Busy Holiday Week
The 413 Wing Peewee AE Hawks traveled to Hespler over the holidays to participate in a hockey tournament and opened the new year with a battle of the Hawks.

The Hawks dropped their first game of the tournament against the Milton Winterhawks White team 5-2. The game was tied 1-1 after one period. Scoring on a power play was Brodie Marcucci with assists going to Jakob Briscoe and Quinton Bogart. Milton took the lead early in the second, scoring twice before Owen Ferguson scored with assists to Marcucci and Bogart.  The Winterhawks scored twice more in the third. Reese Deline was solid in goal for the loss.

The second match up of the day was against the New Hamburg Huskies. The Hawks opened the scoring midway through the first, with a goal from Bogart assisted by Ferguson. Less than a minute later Gabe Miller scored to extend the lead, with an assist going to Brody Hannaberry. The Huskies battled back to tie it in the second and then took control in the third scoring another two goals.  Cooper Martin played well in net for the loss.

The Hawks faced the Halton Hills Thunder in their third game.  This would be their best effort of the tournament, but special teams played a deciding role.  Playing to a scoreless first period, the Hawks got into penalty problems in the second, allowing a power play goal. Again in the third, after killing off a 5 on 3, the Thunder capitalized on tired penalty killers.  Deline was exceptional between the pipes in the 2-0 loss.

This past weekend the Hawks opened the New Year with a 7-4 loss in Northumberland against the Nighthawks. The Hawks offense was led by Ferguson, netting 3 goals, while Miller had the other lone goal.   Assists went to Bryce Mitchell (2), Spencer Power, and Marcucci. Martin was outstanding in net facing 34 shots.

The Hawks finish their regular season with two road games this weekend in Pickering and Peterborough.
