Back to reality for the Quinte West Image Landscape Peewee Hawks!

Back to reality for the Quinte West Image Landscape Peewee Hawks! The boys had a challenging weekend coming off the Justin Williams tourney and jumped right back into regular season play. First on the schedule was an anticipated date with the Whitby Blue squad who are having a solid regular season themselves. The first period was relatively even with chances on both sides of the ice but neither team able to find the back of the net. The Hawks would find some life in the second as Jack Andrews(Weasey, Carr) would start the scoring followed up by another from Weasy(Mooney). Whitby would get one of their own to keep the score at 2-1 going into the final frame. Whitby was relentless in front of the Hawks crease causing lots of chaos and managing to find the back of the net three times in the period. Fanjoy(Bairdo) would manage to get one back for the Hawks but the boys couldn’t match the intensity of the Blue squad and would fall 4-3. This would prove to be the first regular season loss for the Hawks since before the beginning of last season.

The Hawks would finish their weekend with a home game which saw Oshawa come to town. It was another quiet start as neither team could find the scoresheet until midway through the second period when the visitors would take advantage of a 5 on 3. The Hawks had many chances up to this point, but the Oshawa net minder couldn’t be solved. The Hawks’ relentlessness would begin to wear down their opponents in the third and solid passing and good puck movement would pay off. Colby Coe(Fanjoy, Davis) would strike first in the period followed by goals by Andrews and Holden Webster(Slone). It was a solid outing by Quinte West and Dryden Riley played confidently between the pipes to keep the boys in this game. The 3-1 win will hopefully help build confidence heading into a busy week with three games on the schedule.
