The World Elite Training Minor Peewee Hawks played well on the weekend but came up just short at the Northumberland Regional Silver Stick tournament.

On Friday evening the Hawks moved to 2-0 with a 4-1 win over the Russell Warriors. Reid led the offence with a hat trick while Sterling Poff recorded the other marker. Cael Hussey picked up the lone assist. Noah Groeneveld held the Warriors at bay and got the win in net.

In their lone game on Saturday the Hawks faced off against the Leitrim Hawks. In what was another solid defensive effort they came away with a 3-1 victory and secured a birth in the semi-finals. Scoring for the home side were Reid, Wiersma and Marsh. Assists went to Hussey, Armstrong, Connor Kokonas, Tyson Gregory and Aiden Haker. Wallace again was solid and got the win between the pipes.

The semi-final on Sunday was a tight checking affair against the North Durham Warriors. The Hawks took a 3-1 lead early in the third period and held on for a 3-2 earning a birth in the final. Boates opened the scoring in the second period before Reid and Kokonas added the other goals in the third to secure the win. Assists went to Reid(2) and Hussey. Groeneveld made some big saves down the stretch to earn the win.

In the final the Hawks would face the Orillia Terriers who are currently the second ranked team in the province. They could not get the offence going in this one and fell 4-0 but still came away with a silver medal.

The schedule is light this week with their lone game coming on Tuesday at home at 6:00pm when the Oshawa Generals make the trip down the 401 for a battle between the top two teams in the Lakeshore League.
