Hawks Bring Home Silver From Philadelphia
The World Elite Training Minor Peewee Hawks traveled to Pennsylvania this past weekend to participate in The Philadelphia Fall Classic Tournament. After getting off to a slow start in game one the Hawks stormed back in games two and three before falling in the final.

The first game in Friday proved to be a tough test as the Hawks dropped a very tight contest to the Bedford Bears 3-2. Brendan Reid scored both goals for the Hawks with assists going to Connor Boates, Gavin Armstrong and Connor Kokonas. Nowl Wallace played a strong game in net.

On Saturday morning the Hawks got off to a slow start falling behind 3-0 before the offence finally kicked in on route to a 7-4 win over the New Jersey Bandits. Cael Hussey led the offence picking up a hat trick while other goals went to Reid(2), Jakob Harnest and Eli Kenney. Assists went to Sterling Poff(3), Hussey, Boates and Kokonas. Noah Groeneveld picked up the win in net.

The offence kept rolling in game three vs. the Westchester Vipers as the Hawks put 11 goals on the board to win 11-2. Reid had the hot hand in this game picking up four goals with other going to Kokonas(2), Hussey, Boates, Aiden Haker, Poff and Tyson Gregory. Setting up the goals were Boates(2), Armstrong(2), Gregory(2), Poff, Colby Wiersma, Kenney, Reid and Haker. Wallace was steady between the pipes and got the win.

The two wins on Saturday were enough to propel the Hawks into Sundays final which would be a rematch against the undefeated Bedford Bears. It wasn’t in the cards for the home side as the Bears skated away with a 2-0 victory. Groeneveld was great in net keeping the Bears off the scoreboard until the third period.

The Hawks are back in Lakeshore League action this week when they head to Clarington on Wednesday to face the Toros before hosting the North Durham Warriors on Saturday at 2:15pm.
