Atom Hawks Headed to Semi-Finals
The Atom Nomad Hawks are Semi-finals bound after an insane series against the Whitby Blue Wildcats.
For the past two years the Whitby team had been the team that caused the Hawks upset after upset, forcing them into the Lakeshore playoffs. This year was shaping up to see the Hawks face the same fate, until the team rallied together and forced game after game.
The Hawks opened the series with a win, but would fall short the next two games giving Whitby the upper hand. Game four the Hawks dug deep and managed to land a tie and a fighting chance for game five. Game five the Hawks and Wildcats would be in an end to end battle and ultimately see the Hawks squeak by with a one goal win. Game six was an intense game seeing both teams battling on the scoreboard. Hawks were down but not out. At one point in the game they were trailing 4 to 2 with nine mins remaining. Hawks would show the Wildcats what they were made of and use the remaining minutes to their advantage. It didn't take long for the team to lessen that gap in scoring. They took hold on the lead in the game and finally came out on the right side of this series to in turn, send Whitby off to Lakeshore.
The hard work the team has put in all season has paid off in this series. The team awaits the next series where they will face Innisfil.
Coaches are extremely proud of the level of dedication and team play witnessed this series by the boys. It's a great day to be a Hawk!
