Pita Pit Peewee win Silver Stick Regional
Congratulations to the Pita Pit Peewee's on bringing home the Northumberland Regional Silver Stick Championship!

The team knew going into the tournment that they would have to beat the Barrie Colts White, a team that has had their number to this point in the season, if they wanted to book their ticket to the International Championship in Port Huron, Mi..

The boys faced the Pickering Panthers on Friday afternoon, and although it took them a couple periods to find their legs, they dominated the third period, scoring 5 goals on route to a 5-1 victory.

Saturday morning they were ready to take on the Barrie Colts, determined to prove to themselves that they could defeat this team.  The Hawks came out flying, scoring often and early, handing the Colts their first shut out of the season.  The game ended 4-0.

Saturday afternoon, the boys faced the Napanee Stars and never managed to find their stride after Saturday morning's big win over the Colts.  Napanee jumped on the score board first, and eventually built a 3-1 lead going into the third period.  The boys battled back to tie the game 3-3 with 5 mins remaining, but the Stars would go ahead 4-3 minutes later on the power play and then add an empty net goal to seal the victory 5-3.

Sunday morning's Semi Final game was a rematch against the Pickering Panthers.  The game was scoreless heading into the 2nd period, but the Hawks scored twice in the 2nd period, and then twice more in the 3rd, winning the game 4-0.

The Final was a rematch against the Barrie Colts who won their Semi Final game 6-0 over the Napanee Stars.

Again the boys knew that they were going to have to give their best effort against the Colts in order to beat them twice in one weekend.  The Hawks would score one in first and two in the second to build a 3-0 lead going into the 3rd period.  The Colts would get on the score board with a power play goal with 10 minutes remaining and then add another off a deflection with a little over 5 minutes remaining in the game.  The boys were completed exhausted and faced a determined Barrie team in the remaining minutes, but the Hawks prevailed with a 3-2 victory!

Congratulations to the team for a very successful weekend!!
