Hawks Split First 2 Games Of Lakeshore League QF
The Rhino Hockey Training Atom Hawks opened their Lakeshore League quarter-final round robin series against the Clarington Toros and Pickering Panthers with a win and a loss this weekend.
On Saturday the Hawks hosted the Pickering Panthers. After a slow start the offence got going in the third period and the home side came away with a 4-0 win. Scoring for the Hawks were Brendan Reid(2), Connor Boates and Tyson Gregory. Assists went to Boates(2), Gavin Armstrong(2) and Reid. Noah Groeneveld had a great game in net making many key saves and picked up the shutout.
On Sunday the Hawks faced the Toros and could never get the offence going. They trailed 2-0 heading to the third period before giving up four more and eventually lost 6-1. Tyson Gregory scored the lone goal.
The Hawks wrap up the round robin series on the road this weekend. On Saturday they head to Pickering to take on the Panthers and then on Sunday they travel to Clarington to battle the Toros. The top 2 teams from this series will move on to the Lakeshore League semi-finals.
