Hawks Go 2-2 at Liftlock Tournament
The Rhino Hockey Training Minor Atom Hawks had an up and down weekend as the split four games with two wins and two losses in Peterborough at the Liftlock tournament.

On Friday the Hawks got off to a great start by dumping the Richmond Hill Stars 8-3 in their opening game. Connor Kokonas was on fire as he tallied four goals for the home side. Other goal scorers were Tyson Gregory(2), Connor Boates and Pearson MacDonald. Assists went to Matt Hicks(2), Phoebe Mooney(3), Gregory, Aiden Haker and MacDonald. Cooper Martin got the win in net.

On Saturday the Hawks would play two games. In game one they got off to a great start leading 2-1 after the first but could not generate any more offence and fell to the Stittsville Rams 5-2. Kokonas and MacDonald scored the goals while Mooney and Kokonas each had a singe assist.

In game two on Saturday the Hawks put forth their best effort of the tournament and beat the Glanbrook Rangers 6-3. Gregory led the offence scoring a hat trick with single markers going to Boates, Kokonas and MacDonald. Picking up assists were Kokonas(2), Boates(2), Gregory(2) and Gavin Armstrong. Martin was solid in net picking up the win.

A 2-1 record after the round robin portion of the tournament was not quite enough to get the team into the semi-finals as the fell just short on a tie breaker rule. This then put them in the consolation final game on Sunday versus the Mississippi Thunder Kings. The game was scoreless after the first period but the Thunder Kings would score 3 unanswered goals the rest of the way to down the Hawks 3-0.

The Hawks start their first round OMHA playdown series this week against the Clarington Toros with games Tuesday in Clarington, Saturday at home (in Frankford) and then back in Clarington on Sunday.
