Hawks Have Strong Showing at Niagara Falls Tournament
The Rhino Hockey Training Minor Atom Hawks has a strong showing at the Peter Mancuso November Challenge this past weekend in Niagara Falls. After going 2-1 in the round robin the Hawks fell to the Duffield Devils in a hard fought semi-final game.

On Friday the Hawks had a tough opening draw facing their league rival Whitby (Blue) Wildcats but the team played a solid defensive game going to the third tied 0-0. Whitby scored a goal early in the third and went on to a 3-0 win. Alex Bisset was strong in net,

In game two on Friday the Hawks played another great game defeating the Toronto Aeros 5-2. Scoring for the Quinte West were Connor Kokonas(2), Tyson Gregory, Connor Boates and Colby Wiersma. Assists went to Eli Kenney, Gavin Armstrong(3), Boates, Aiden Haker, Gregory and Quinton Bogart. Cooper Martin picked up the win in net.

Heading into Saturday's game the Hawks had the odds stacked against them as they needed an offensive outburst and a little help from Whitby in order to reach the semi-finals. The Hawks did exactly what was required as they whipped the St. Catherines Falcons 7-0. Wiersma led the attack with two goals while singles went to Gregory, Boates, Kokonas, Armstrong and Jakob Harnest. Gregory also added three assists. Bisset picked up the shut-out.

After the game the Hawks had to wait on their rivals from Whitby to see if they could defeat the Newmarket Redmen, which they did meaning that Quinte West was moving on to the semi-finals Against the Duffield Devils.

In the semi-final game both teams played well defensively and the Hawks could not solve a strong goaltender falling 2-0 to the Devils. Martin played well in net.

The Hawks are back in Lakeshore League action this weekend as they travel to Whitby on Saturday to take on the Wildcats (white) before heading to Oshawa on Sunday to take on the Generals.
