Hawks Have Strong Showing in Oshawa Hockeyfest
The Rhino Hockey Training Novice 'A' Hawks had a great showing in Oshawa going 2-1-1 and making it to the semi-finals.

The Hawks got off on the right foot on Friday picking up 2 big wins. In game one the Hawks fell behind early but stormed back in what was one of their most complete games of the season and beat the Whitby Wildcats (white) 4-2. Tyson Gregory scored 2 while Jakob Harnest and Colby Jones had one each. Picking up assists were Connor Boates(3), Noah Lesser(2), Owen Vis and Evan Beamish. Reese Deline picked up the win in net.

In Game 2 the Hawks again got off to a slow start trailing 2-1 at the end of the first but then the offence kicked in en route to a 7-3 victory. Gregory once again led the offence with 2 goals while singles went to Boates, Harnest, Jones, Lesser and Quinton Bogart. Assists went to Boates(2), Lesser(2), Harnest(2), Tiernan Deery and Bogart. Alex Bisset was solid between the pipes and picked up the win.

On Saturday the Hawks played one game which was a match up against The Whitby Wildcats (Blue) who are one of the top teams in their Lakeshore League loop. This was a tight checking game as the teams headed to the third period still looking for the first goal of the game. Colby Weirsma capitalized on a scramble in the crease to put the Hawks ahead 1-0 with Bogart and Harnest picking up the assists. Deline continually turned away opportunities for the Wildcats but they eventually scored the tying goal as the teams would skate to a 1-1 draw.

The semi-final game on Sunday would be a rematch against Whitby (Blue). The Hawks got behind early and could not get the offence going falling 6-0 to Wildcats.

This weekend the Hawks are back in Lakeshore league action with two home games. On Saturday they will face the Port Perry Predators in Frankford and on Sunday they will have another match-up with the Whitby Wildcats (Blue) at 12:30pm in Trenton.
