Coach/Trainer Resources (Quinte West Minor Hockey Association)

PrintCoach/Trainer Resources

Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience, not only for our members but for the volunteer.  We have many different opportunities in our organization to volunteer that will fit most anyone's busy schedule.

All volunteers must provide a current criminal record check and complete any required training.  QWMHA will refund the cost of any training incurred in either a one time payment of over the course of two years.

The OMHA has minimum requirements for all team officials in house league and representative hockey.

The Basics

All bench staff volunteers must complete the following requirements, regardless of their official role on the team.

1) Respect in Sport - Activity Leader Course (this is not to be confused with the parent RIS program)
This course is only required to be completed once per participant and has a one time fee to register and complete.  This is an on demand course so no need to pre-register.

2) Gender Identity Course
This course is only required to be completed once per participant and is an on demand course so can be completed at any time.

3) Criminal Record Check - volunteers must provide a criminal record check before they can be added to the roster.  This can be completed online from the OPP website.  You must provide a letter of volunteering from the association when you complete your request for a CRC.  Please contact the office for a letter before you submit your request at [email protected]

Tips to stream line rostering

1) If you have participated in minor hockey previously, chances are you still have a Hockey Canada profile.  Please contact the office to ask for a search and have your profile transferred to QWMHA.  You will need to provide your name and date of birth when sending your request.

2) When you register for courses, it is important that you use the same name for each course.  For example if your legal name is Michael, but you go by Mike, you need to register for each course using either Michael or Mike, but not go back and forth between the two.  If this happens, then we will need to merge profiles and during the busy season this takes time and can delay the rostering process.
