Hawks Win Prestigious Bell Capital Cup
The Klemencic Homes Atom A Hawks claimed victory in the Bell Capital Cup tournament in Ottawa last week.

After three days and 7 games the Hawks (6-1-0) defeated the Nepean Raiders (white) 4-0 in the final which was played at Canadian Tire (home of the Ottawa Senators).

The tournament got underway on Wednesday as the Hawks played 2 games. In game one they faced the same Nepean Raiders team that they would meet in the final beating the 5-2. Scoring for the Hawks were Michael Dolton(2), Ryan Kirk, Daniel McLeod and Jack Lowry. Assists went to Jakob Gardner(2), Mac Slone and Dolton. Seamus Killeen recorded the win in net.
In game 2 the Hawks met up with the Gloucester Orleans Blues and came away with a 2-1 win in what was a very close game all the way through. After falling behind in the first Lowry tied the game for the Hawks in the second and Geoffrey Boates scored the winner just over half way through the third. Eamonn Deery picked up the lone assist. Killeen once again was strong between the pipes.
On Thursday the Hawks continued their winning ways early as Killeen shut the door in net in a 4-0 win against the Cumberland Grads. Lowry scored 2 goals while others went to McLeod and Dolton. Adding assists were Dolton, Gardner and Boates.
Game 4 was a bit of a different story for the Hawks as they could not get on track throughout the game and fell 5-4 to the Nepean Raiders (Black). Goals were scored by Kirk, Shane Jerrett, Gardner and Boates while Gardner, Jerrett, Dolton and Keenan Wiles picked up helpers.
With a 3-1 record in the opening round the Hawks found themselves in third place heading to the quarter-finals. The boys would get an immediate chance to avenge their only loss of the tournament as the faced the Nepean Raiders (Black) in their quarter-final. The boys from Quinte West would not disappoint as they were well prepared and came way with a dominating 5-0 win. Gardner, Dolton, Jerrett, Boates and Lowry scored for the Hawks with assists going to Ben Davy(2), Kirk(2), Slone, Gardner, Wiles, Justin Bolduc, Dolton and Jerrett. Killeen recorded the shut-out in net.
In the semi-final the Hawks would face the Potsdam Jr. Bears from upstate New York. After falling behind 1-0 early they put together what was likely their best performance of the week and came away with a 6-2 victory. Scoring the Hawks goals were Lowry(2), Dolton, Bolduc, Deery and Gardner with helpers coming from Wiles, Lowry, Jerrett, Deery and Bolduc. Killeen recorded the win in net.
This meant that Hawks would play in the Championship game at Canadian Tire Place, the home of the Ottawa Senators. In a game that had all of the bells and whistles of an NHL contest the Hawks would be sure not to come home empty handed as they beat the Nepean Raiders (White) 4-0 to claim the title. Dolton scored 2 goals to lead the offence while Kirk and Deery supplied the other markers. Assists went to Wiles(2), Jerrett and Lowry. Killeen was solid in net recording his third shut-out of the week.
